I make semi-abstracted landscape paintings using acrylic paint on canvas. I like to incorporate unique eastern architecture to give my artwork a sense of history and identity. Windows are the main theme in creating this type of painting. I love using bright colors when depicting the architectural piece of my painting. Windows can have many different meanings in human life. They are representation of freedom, and bright colors are representation of a lively environment/ life. The combination of these two bring my paintings into life and can speak to their observer.
All of my work is original and comes from ideas that I sketch on paper first. I was born with a talent in art and I can’t remember not knowing I was an artist. For the first two years of my life in college I studies fine art, but after realizing that the school couldn’t give me what I was looking for I switched my major to political Science. Currently I have a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy and work closely with students at the University of Michigan. Therefore, I consider myself a self-taught artist, and strive every day in learning new things and improve my skills and knowledge. I’ve shown in many fine art fairs (and won many awards), and have been displayed in many galleries. I love it when people are fascinated by the uniqueness of my work, and feel a sense of familiarity in its cultured formation. - Fatima |
